About the NACC
Share |

Founded in 1977, the National Association of Counsel for Children (NACC) is a non-profit child advocacy and professional membership association headquartered in the Kempe Children's Center on the campus of Children's Hospital Colorado in Aurora, Colorado. We are a multidisciplinary organization with approximately 2,000 members representing all 51 jurisdictions and several foreign countries. NACC membership is comprised primarily of attorneys and judges, although the fields of medicine, social work, mental health, education, and law enforcement are also represented. In addition to our headquarters in Denver, several state and local affiliates support and promote the NACC mission. We also maintain a policy representative in Washington, DC.

Our goal is to improve the lives of children and families through high-quality legal representation and other forms of advocacy. We are the only national organization accredited by the American Bar Association to certify attorneys as Child Welfare Law Specialists. We also provide training and technical assistance to child law attorneys and other child welfare professionals, engage in public policy and legislative advocacy aimed at improving the child welfare and juvenile justice systems, and hold the National Child Welfare, Juvenile Justice, and Family Law Conference each fall.
