We Should Treat Early Childhood Educators as Valued Employees [Time]

The earliest years are the time of greatest brain development in children. Early education has been identified as critical to developing the workforce of tomorrow, and children who have high-quality learning experiences are five times less likely to engage in criminal behavior. Despite the importance of early education, we don’t include it as part of our public investment framework and have instead structured childcare as the responsibility of individual families. And despite the importance of their work, most early childhood educators work long hours for low pay.
