ABA House adopts measures intended to fight bias in schools and on juries [ABA Journal]

On Tuesday, the ABA House passed two resolutions aimed at increasing diversity and inclusion in the legal process. Resolution 115 calls on local governments to adopt laws and policies aimed at ending the school-to-prison pipeline. Resolution 116 adds marital status, gender identity, and gender expression to the ABA’s list of reasons jurors should not be denied for jury service. It also calls for judges to instruct juries on implicit bias and encourage them not to decisions based on personal likes or dislikes of protected classes.
