Texas Grants Child Care License to Migrant Detention Center [New York Times]

Last August, Judge Dolley M. Gee of Federal District Court for the Central District of California gave the Obama administration two months to release migrant children being held in facilities that were not specifically licensed for child care. The administration appealed, and in an effort to maneuver around the ruling, Texas officials revised the state’s licensing rules, allowing Karnes County Residential Center and another detention center in Texas to qualify for child care permits.
