This means that more than 50 people sentenced as children to mandatory life without parole in Arkansas will have the opportunity to be resentenced.

The U.S. Supreme Court in Miller found that it is a violation of the Eighth Amendment ban on cruel and unusual punishment to impose an automatic sentence of life without parole for a crime committed by a person younger than 18.
