Public Interest Attorney Fellowships:

The National Association of Counsel for Children (NACC) invites inquiries and project proposals for Equal Justice Works and Skadden Fellowships, to begin work in fall 2020.  Law students who are passionate about rights and justice for children, and who possess excellent research, writing, and organizational skills, should apply.

NACC is a non-profit association of over 1500 professionals dedicated to advancing the rights, well-being, and opportunities of children impacted by the child welfare system through high-quality legal representation.  We seek fellowship proposals on a broad range of topics, especially those that would advance children’s right to counsel and/or improve the quality of legal representation and legal service delivery systems in the child welfare system.  Projects could include the development and publication of training curriculums, policy papers, amicus briefs, attorney tools and website resources, and more. Prospective applicants should review NACC’s Policy Agenda, Strategic Plan, and website.

The fellowship could be based in Denver, Washington, DC, or Atlanta, where NACC has staff.

Application Instructions:

Applicants should submit a resume and cover letter via email to NACCED@NACCchildlaw.org describing 1-2 proposed projects and how those projects fit within NACC’s mission. NACC will work with prospective applicants to further develop projects for submission to fellowship programs.

Candidates must either graduate from law school or complete a judicial clerkship in 2020, prior to the fall 2020 start date.

NACC Deadline: July 22, 2019

Note: Post-Graduate Fellowship Programs (Skadden, Equal Justice Works, Etc.) have their own deadlines and project eligibility criteria which applicants should review before contacting NACC.
