The ABA House of Delegates adopted the Model Act Governing the Representation of Children in Abuse and Neglect Cases at its Annual Meeting In summary, the bill creates a right to counsel for children in D& N Cases- a huge accomplishment.

Client directed representation is mandated for each child: "The court shall appoint a child's lawyer for each child who is the subject of a petition in an abuse and neglect proceeding”.
