Helping College-Bound Native Americans Beat The Odds [NPR]

Native American students are the least likely to have access to college prep or advanced placement courses – and many get little to no college counseling. In 1998, College Horizons, a small nonprofit based in New Mexico, began hosting five-day summer workshops to instruct Native youth on admissions, financial aids, and the unique challenges they’ll face in college. In this article, NPR interviews Carmen Lopez, Director of College Horizons, asking her about the many obstacles faced by Native students.
