Federal judge picks ‘best of the best’ to help her overhaul Texas foster care [Dallas Morning News]

On Monday, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s request to overturn the ruling of U.S. District Judge Janis Jack of Corpus Christi – a ruling that called for an overhaul of the state’s foster care system and the appointment of a special master to oversee the reform efforts. Afterward, Judge Jack chose not one, but two special masters – a former New Jersey child welfare administrator and a Duke law professor.
