The fight over transgender rights in school restroom intensifies [PBS NEWSHOUR]

Last week, the South Dakota Legislature passed a bill that would require transgender youth to use the school restroom facilities that correspond to their “chromosomes and anatomy” at birth. This legislation is at odds with government interpretation of U.S. law, and gay rights groups are pressuring South Carolina Dennis Dauguaard to veto the bill. However, federal courts are still considering the issue and none have validated the government’s reasoning thus far. At least 22 other states have introduced similar legislation.
