CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

We are exhilarated by the high level of interest from workshop candidates desiring to present child welfare models and programs at our 2009 conference in sunny Long Beach, California.

Each year, the BACW Board of Directors strive to make sure that conference attendees leave the three day experience inspired with information, knowledge, and methods of implementing of new ideas that will assist them in improving the quality of life for the children and families they serve.

Through this year's conference theme, “Bridging the Gap for Our Children, Our Legacy” we are more committed than ever to present the very best workshops presenters have to offer. While our workshops have always been outstanding, it is our goal to raise the bar even higher in 2009.

The 2009 conference will be a landmark event because it is the first time BACW has held our national conference west of the Mississippi. Also, universities, communities, and child welfare practitioners are excited about the opportunity to present best practices and programs that achieve improved outcomes for children and families on the "new frontier".” Potential presenters and conference attendees are equally as anxious to see how their counterparts are bridging gaps in the rest of the United States. This transfer of knowledge can only lead to quantum increases in the body of knowledge of the national child welfare community and a commensurate improvement in the child welfare service delivery system for our children.
